We received hundreds of submissions and are now down to the finalists.
Congrats to Katie Baneck from Northwestern High School in Ohio for being a finalist![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Katie’s Essay”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dear Sedentary Industries LLC,
There are so many reasons why I think that students should have the opportunity to have physical education classes. I am who I am today because of being active. I accredit a lot of my success in athletics to all of the people throughout my education who have pushed me to be as healthy as possible. I think that it would be extremely bad for the community and for all of the children in schools if their opportunity to learn about a healthy lifestyle would be stripped away. I hope that your company can see how truly important health is for students.
Physical education and having a healthy lifestyle are two things that are very important to me. I am a high school athlete and I have grown up being active. Living an active life has brought me so many opportunities and it has opened my eyes to people and experiences I would have never seen before. Without people pushing me to try new things, I would not be the person I am right now. My high school uses a wonderful program that shows students and athletes how to correctly do the workout they have been given and the program makes it all fun by offering leaderboards and goals for students and athletes to work towards. Having a program like this in place has been extremely beneficial to our athletic programs and I am so thankful for it. I hope that you will decide to help the youth of today by offering them a good physical education.
Throughout my education, I have felt strongly that all students should get the opportunity to be active. All students should be able to go outside and be active amongst their peers. I feel as though it is extremely important that children see physical fitness in a good light, and that our youth of today grows up to enjoy doing what is right for their health. Through physical education in schools children can be shown the true benefits of living an active life and they can learn how much enjoyment it brings to them. I have seen how much being healthy or unhealthy can affect a person during their lifetime, and I hope your company decides to help the people of this community with the gift of health.
Schools today should most definitely offer a way for students to learn about physical activities and help children find a passion in health. The youth of today will soon be adults, and those adults will truly benefit from knowing how to stay healthy. Health is so truly important and the children in schools today need to be able to learn about how they can help themselves. I hope that schools will stop underestimating the power of physical education and that students will be able to learn the skills they need from physical education.
In the future, I hope to see that all schools across the nation offer students a fun way to stay physically fit. I hope that schools will teach their students the skills they need to lead a healthy life. Throughout my education, I have learned how to maintain a healthy diet, work as a team, and how to stay active. These are things I will keep with me for the rest of my life, and things that I learned through physical education.
Thank you for your time and I hope that you and your company can see how much teaching healthy habits and physical fitness to our youth affects our community.
Thank you again,
Katie Baneck
