Ashley’s Approach & Insights
Ashley shared her philosophy, approach, and how PLT4M plays a role in her program. Here’s what she had to say:
Goals & Mission
“My goal is to get students active and moving in any way.
I want them to understand that physical education and movement don’t have to mean just sports, and that each student can find a way to move their body that they enjoy.
I hope they will transfer the skills they learn in class outside of school and get active more often.”
How I Use PLT4M
“I use PLT4M with my whole group in the gym and display the slides on my Promethean board.
Students easily understand the videos, and I can keep a slide up for them to reference throughout an activity as a refresher if they need it.
The visuals give students another way to understand a skill and help keep them engaged throughout the lesson.”
Why I Use PLT4M
“I like PLT4M because it provides everything I need in an organized way.
I can access other programs like Secondary PE if I want to introduce some of those skills to my older students. I also like that it provides multiple formats for delivering information while still allowing me to customize things in my own way.”
Impact on My Program
“Going into my first year of teaching Physical Education, I was a bit intimidated by all the resources out there and found myself scrolling social media and different websites looking for activities.
PLT4M helped me feel more confident by having everything organized and easy to understand.
I can even leave the one-page instructions for a substitute and know that my students are still getting quality instruction while I am away.”
Favorite Feature
“My favorite part of PLT4M is the organization and visuals.
Allowing students to see a skill in multiple ways through different videos and graphics makes all the difference. Students are always excited to go through the slides and engaged in the videos.
My students and families also love the Healthy Habits Calendars and look forward to them each month.”
