About Mike
Mike Chamberlain is a Physical Education Teacher and District Content Lead for Elementary PE at Diamond Path Elementary School, with 17 years of experience. He describes himself as a student-centered teacher who believes movement should be meaningful, engaging, and connected to students’ lives, using creativity, choice, reflection, and purposeful experiences to help students build motor competence. Mike uses PLT4M as a supplement to his PE program, pulling individual lessons, videos, and activities for stations, small-group work, fitness activities, and sub plans.
Mike’s Approach & Insights
Mike shared his philosophy, approach, and how PLT4M plays a role in his program. Here’s what he had to say:
Goals & Mission
“My goal is to help every student ‘learn to love to move’ by creating meaningful, engaging experiences where they feel successful, challenged, connected, and confident. I want students to leave my class not only with physical skills, but with the knowledge, confidence, and desire to choose movement as a positive part of their lives.”
How I Use PLT4M
“I use PLT4M as a supplement to my PE program, rather than replacing what I already do. I pull individual lessons, videos, or activities when they fit my units, use the demonstrations to help students understand skills, and give students opportunities to choose activities or work at an appropriate level.
I use it for stations, small-group work, fitness activities, sub plans, or lessons where I want students to take more ownership of their learning. I see PLT4M as another tool in my toolbox that can save me planning time while helping me create engaging, meaningful experiences that support my goal of helping students learn to love to move.”
Why I Use PLT4M
“PLT4M is useful because it gives you a huge library of ready-to-use lessons, activities, and videos that you can easily bring into your PE classes. It saves you time when planning while still giving you the flexibility to adjust activities based on the age, ability, and interests of your students.
You can also use it to make movement more accessible and engaging through clear demonstrations and opportunities for students to work at their own level.”
Impact on My Program
“PLT4M had a big impact by helping students become more confident and independent in their movement. It gave them clear demonstrations, resources, and choices that allowed them to take more ownership of their learning.
Over time, it helped students see themselves as capable movers and made physical activity feel more accessible, enjoyable, and relevant to their lives.”
Favorite Feature
“My favorite feature of PLT4M is the ready-to-use video demonstrations and GIFs. They make it easy for students to see what a movement or activity should look like without me having to explain every detail, which gives students more independence and allows me to spend more time teaching, encouraging, and connecting with them.”
