The Lifelong Game of Roundnet

Roundnet is a dynamic, engaging game that students can play well beyond their school years. A team sport, played in pairs and centered around a small circular net, the game encourages movement, communication, and creativity. It’s a simple setup that can be enjoyed in all types of environments—from the gym, to the beach, to the backyard.

In PE class, Roundnet introduces a fresh way to get active. Students develop a wide range of skills while playing, including agility, coordination, reaction time, and teamwork. The fast-paced nature of the game keeps players moving and thinking.

What makes Roundnet special is its accessibility and long-term appeal. Students don’t need to specialize or commit to a full season of play. They can pick it up quickly and enjoy it casually with friends and family, anytime and anywhere.

By incorporating Roundnet into physical education, teachers offer students more than just a fun game. They’re providing an activity that students can enjoy for a lifetime. Whether it becomes a go-to game with friends or just another way to stay active, Roundnet promotes lifelong movement and healthy habits.

How To Set Up A Spikeball™ Net

To start the setup, take a rim piece and insert it fully into the leg opening, making sure the hooks on the rim are facing toward the ground. Ensure the rim is placed all the way into the leg. Fit all the rim pieces into the legs until you have a complete circle.

Next, take the net and wrap it over the rim, attaching it to the hook next to one of the yellow legs. Repeat this process for all five legs. Pull the net until you feel some tension, and attach it to each hook. Continue this on every hook until the net is completely secured.

To tighten the net effectively, pull the net down over the rim and place it on a new rung. Be sure to tighten different spots around the net; otherwise, you may see odd bounces or the net start to warp. Look for the net’s squares to appear even, and check that the ball bounces consistently across different parts of the net.

You can tighten or loosen the net if you want more or less bounce, depending on the skill level or the area you’re playing in.

Spikeball™ Curriculum – Roundnet Passing

• 2 basic types of passes – Underhand and Overhand
• Pass the ball up in the air towards your partner, not directly at them
• Accuracy is important – Pass the ball toward the net
• Contact the ball just above the center of your palm
• Be ready to use both hands

Spikeball™ Rookie Game ` – Catch and Throw

The best way to get introduced to the game is by throwing and catching the ball off the net. One person throws the ball onto the net, and someone else tries to catch it. Whoever catches it then gets to throw the ball back off the net. Everyone should circle up, as the ball will bounce in different directions.

This becomes a fun and active way to practice throwing, catching, and getting used to the Spikeball™ equipment.
